K-1 Story-time with the Author- 45m This presentation is designed for the younger children. I will read aloud How the Finch Got His Colors. After reading the story, we will have a question and answer session. A fun hands-on craft will wrap up the session. A book signing can accompany this lesson if requested. Grades 1-3 Folktale Elements- 1h. This presentation will explore the elements embedded in folktales such as origin, magic, character traits (good vs. evil) and the moral of the story. This lesson accompanies my book How the Finch Got His Colors. After a short read, we will discuss the folktale elements found in the story. To wrap up the session we will have a question and answer session. A book signing can accompany this lesson if requested.

Creation to Publication- 1h. From creation to publication is a presentation about my journey from writer to author. This discussion will cover topics such as generating ideas, researching, drafting, editing, and publication. This presentation includes hands-on-exercises that are sure to get the creative juices flowing. A book signing can accompany this lesson if requested.
Lyrical Language -1h After reading How the Finch Got His Colors we will explore how word choices enhance the quality of writing. Students will be introduced to figurative language (similes and metaphor) and will learn how to use these concepts in their own writing to improve its quality.
